Transparency in South Asia

Recently I joined a conference of South Asian Water Parnership of 6 countries at Columbo Srilanka. I witnessed blind fury over the issues. My suggestion to use satellite based imagery of project area was considered and turned into the part of resolution but I fear I was not accurately understood. If India agrees all water related conflicts in South Asia can be resolved. India has the capability to launch satellites in to the space to help countries identify water resources and develop IWRM

Global Water Partnership believes South Asian countries are not doing enough to resolve water crisis in the region. During the conference at Dolphin Hotel Columbo no strategic understanding among six participating countries was visible. It seemed as if each participant was in a hurry to return home.

I fully agree.

If we can ensure total transparency in water management, most of the prbloems of the mega metros and agriculatural lands can be solved.

This would help Asia to get out of its poverty. Water is most crucial for life and can ensure long term sustenance.

Absence of water can wipe out communities and widen the divide between the water rich and water poor countries.
